RE: mtn.campsite

My cousin lives up near Julian...we just camp at her house if we make the trip. But there were some nice looking parks along the drive in that area. Haven't camped in any of them. SO don't have any recommendations..but I love the little community of Julian.

RE: How do I get a bird out of my house...?

WE had that happen...It is hard since you are not going to be home. We usually open all the doors and windows..take the screens off and try and get them out. Before the cats discover that it is in the house.

RE: Cancel trip for toe injury/fracture?

We had our big trip planned last year. DD 13 made that trip with her arm in a cast. Swimming was not as hard...because my cousin sent us a cast boot cover, that she had used with her girls. After all they live in AZ and not swimming in the summer is just not an option. I realize that a broken arm is different from a toe. It is designed to keep all water out. So that would help keep the lake water out. Or get him an inflatable raft. He can float out and still have fun...better yet...get him a raft and some super soaker squirt guns. I would just talk to him and see. Maybe compromise on the activities. Take shorter, easier hikes...or just allow extra time to rest. Bring some card and board games.

RE: What can I pull with a Pontiac Montana

I would imagine that you would have to look at pop-ups vs an actual Travel Trailer...or a very small travel trailer like the tear drop design type ones. What is the tow rating...I would think it would be around the 2000-3000 range.

RE: Any active Thousand Trails members here?

We are not. But we have friends that are full timers and they really like it.

RE: Super light bunkhouse trailers

WE have a Crossroads Sunset Trail Quad bunk house. It doesn't have the u-shaped dinette...but we rarely eat inside to begin with. On the occassions that we do, we have a narrow folding table, that we shortened and place that in front of the sofa. Our is the 31 QB..they have a new one out..that looks cool also. That my kids would love to get. But we just bought ours last spring..no plans to change. http://www.crossroadsrv.com/line/st.asp

RE: Bunkhouse Ideas-- Experience

We have a quad bunk house model made by Crossroads. It is the Sunset trailer..it is a 31 footer. What I like about it most...is that it has a solid door to the bunkhouse. We needed that as our special needs dd goes to bed earlier and sometimes has a quiet time during the day. We wanted something that had the solid door and not just a slider screen.

RE: Post camping to do's?

Check the microwave...because if you don't you may come back a few weeks later to a smelly trailer and a science experiment. That at one time was a plate of leftover scrambled eggs and a slice of bacon...or at least that is what you think it was.

RE: letting the locals in

We were given a resort membership. The CG is only about 25 miles away. It has 3 pools and we would fall into the go up there and use it for the day people. We also camp there in the off season. It is too crowded to camp at in the summer and unless you time it right and get one of the better sites and not the back to back sardine sites. But since it is private and larger campground...they actually have an older gent who camps there all summer long and he is the "pool enforcer". I have to say it is nice, and he has and will kick out people/teens for the day even if you are camping if you don't abide by the rules.

RE: Big Family TT Dilema

First, congrats on the addition to your family! We have a Sunset Trail by Crossroads. You might want to look at this layout 08 Sunset Trail ST31QB with a GVWR of 7790. Good luck! Tami We have the 2007 of this one. We have upgraded to a truck. But the first few months we had it, we used our Suburban to tow it. It worked out fine.
